There’s more to Knitwear This Season
December 13th, 2011 by Ron
Winter is well and truly upon us. After a late start that had us basking in the October sunshine and enjoying the mild November days, December has brought us back to earth with a very chilly bump. All this cold weather can mean only one thing, it’s time to get your winter wardrobe in order and wrap up warm. Don’t worry though girls, covering up for the winter months no longer means losing out on style thanks to some of the fabulous knitwear trends on offer this season.
Fair Isle Knitwear – Two of the key elements form this season’s catwalk shows were colour and texture and as a result Fair Isle knitwear is everywhere. These heavy knitted pieces bring a touch of colour and cheeky fun to knitwear throwing off its dowdy image of the past.
Knitted Tunics/Dresses – Having a knitted tunic in your knitwear arsenal is an essential this season, and thanks to number of options available it shouldn’t be too difficult to find the right tunic for you. For an easy daywear look wear your tunic with leggings and faux fur boots, or go classic with heeled leather boots and matching cross body bag.
Longline Knitted Cardigans – The longline knitted cardigan is a winter favourite as it can flatter any figure. This year the usual colours are on offer with whites, creams and greys in abundance, but for the season’s real hot colours go for burnt oranges, purple and crimson. Wear them over plain jersey basics and finish off with an oversize belt.
Knitted Accessories – Winter is the perfect time to accessorise with extra knitwear pieces. Knitted scarves are a great way not only to add warmth to but to bring added colour and texture to your look. A heavy wool jacket in a neutral colour finished off with lighter coloured scarf is a cosy winter look. Another great knitwear accessory for winter is chunky knitted tights which look killer worn with pencil skirts or tunic style dresses.
